Jay White, MAI, CRE

As the founder of Apex Realty Advisory in 2009, he serves at the company President.  He has almost 30 years of real estate valuation, advisory and consulting experience with both local and national firms.  He serves a variety of individuals, corporations, developers, institutional and governmental clients covering a widely diverse field of industries.

Jay graduated from the University of Delaware in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He began his appraisal career in 1988 as a commercial appraiser at a small fee shop in Wilmington, Delaware, before joining Mellon Bank in Philadelphia in 1990 as a commercial appraiser. At Mellon Bank, much of his focus was on supporting the Real Estate Finance and Construction Group related to reviewing and conducting real estate appraisals for new loans, restructurings, workout and REO.

After receiving the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 1997, Jay took the position of Manager with Ernst & Young, LLC in Philadelphia. During this time, he completed numerous national and international assignments including purchase price allocation appraisal for large M&A transactions, complex multi-tenanted investment properties, and market studies.  Before leaving as an Executive Director he led E&Y’s Philadelphia Transaction Real Estate Group.  He also served as a Managing Director of Duff & Phelps, LLC’s Valuation Services practice in Philadelphia before leaving to start Apex Realty Advisory in Wilmington, DE.

Jay was awarded the CRE® designation in 2007 from the Counselors of Real Estate and is a Certified General Appraiser in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. He has provided expert witness testimony, has been accepted as a real estate appraisal expert in bankruptcy court, tax court tribunals, and has served as an appraisal arbitrator.  He has experience appraising multi-tenanted office complexes, residential subdivisions, easements, multifamily properties, industrial properties, commercial land, and other special purpose property types such as car washes, churches, schools, and cellular towers.

Jay was the 2010 Chair of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate.  He is the current President of the Delaware Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, following a previous position as Treasurer. He is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and a co-chair of their Delaware Satellite Program, as well as a Board Member of the Commercial-Industrial Realty Council (CIRC) in Wilmington.  He is an approved instructor for the Appraisal Institute and has served on and chaired Review & Counseling and Experience Review committees, in addition to volunteering as a national experience screener.
